GMB Local 3-Pack: Know When You're Actually Showing Up in Local Search

For local searches, Google's 3-pack — the map and three business listings shown at the top of results — is often what customers see before anything else. Ranking well organically doesn't guarantee a spot there. GMB Local 3-Pack tracks whether you're actually showing up in it, keyword by keyword.

How It Works

  1. Add your business in the GMB Business Manager tab — name, Google Place ID, and location.
  2. Add keywords to track for that business, one at a time or in bulk.
  3. Check the Summary dashboard — every tracked keyword shows whether you're found in the local pack, your position if so, and a trend arrow, plus your average rating and review count.
  4. Review the Local Performance Report for a period-based rollup of how your local visibility has moved.

Why This Matters

Local pack placement shifts based on factors that aren't always visible from the outside — proximity, relevance, and review signals all play a role, and they can change without any obvious trigger on your end. Tracking it directly, keyword by keyword, is the only reliable way to know whether you're actually visible where local customers are looking.
